Cageless Macaw Breeding Project

I have had Rose and Scarlet for 14 years. I handfed them as babies. They have been breeding freely without a box for three years. They have remained tame thus far even though they are a very bonded pair.

I finally broke down and put up the nest box. I feared that If they nested and produced eggs I would surely loose them as pets. Well they have laid two eggs and I can still handle both of them!

This is there garden habitat with a building protecting rear portion and a large tree covers center for shade and potential hawk attacks.  They share a portion of their habitat with three other macaws but their walk-abouts are not connected. All birds are clipped.
